About Us
Allegany Law Foundation, Inc.’s mission is to provide quality legal services to low-income clients and seniors in Allegany County. Our goal is to increase access to justice for the under-represented and to support and further pro bono efforts of the legal community. This is accomplished by providing services through a number of grant-funded programs including the Family Law Self-Help Center, the Judicare program, the senior legal assistance program, the foreclosure prevention program, and the eviction prevention program, and coordinating pro bono attorney referrals. We collaborate with other community partners in Allegany County such as Maryland Legal Aid, Human Resources Development Commission, Allegany County Department of Social Services and the Family Resource Crisis Center to supplement their services for low-income individuals. Our program was founded by the Allegany County Bar Association in 1997 and is supported by its members who provide direct legal resources, donations, fundraising, and administrative services.
